When: December 14, 2022 5:15 pm

Location: Online via Zoom

Artificial Intelligence (AI) will soon be involved in every aspect of land management. At this MapChat, Andrew Mitchell will give us insight into the development of recent AI model apps, WeedScan and FeralScan, and how they're improving agricultural and environmental weed management outcomes.

Join us on Zoom THIS Wednesday 14 December to hear from Andrew Mitchell, from the Centre for Invasive Specie Solutions. Andrew is working on WeedScan, a mobile phone app that can identify weeds using AI and report the weeds to State authorities.

The aim of WeedScan is to reduce the cost of managing agricultural and environmental weeds in Australia.  Andrew will discuss the collection of training data and the creation of the AI model.  He will also talk about FeralScan, which is used for locating feral animals.

This talk will concentrate on a technology that will one day be integrated into GIS but which for now is an emerging field.  An outline of the project is available through the link below.
