In 2022, the Port of Townsville initiated a project to construct a digital twin, a 'Virtual Port'. Employing City Engine, 3D analyst, AGOL, BIMs and drone-captured imagery with DSM and 3D mesh data, the outcome is a comprehensive 3D Virtual Port GIS primarily designed for asset and property management, project milestone reporting and port development modelling. The development of the Virtual Port will continue into 2023 / 2024 with real-time 4D asset movement, and scenario modelling focused on Berth capacity and efficiency as the Port continues to move towards its Port2050 vision.
