MapChat - Google MyMaps: an intro and in action!
When: July 5, 2022
Location: The Bluewater. 7 Harbour Dr, Trinity Park QLD
At this month's MapChat, Alistair Hart will introduce us to the Google MyMaps platform and demonstrate it in action. Following on from this, we will apply what we have learnt in a facilitated discussion on setting up a community mapping project, led by a group of local volunteers.
This months MapChat includes a two part special. We'll be taking a look at Google MyMaps, a free-to-use mapping platform made for creating, sharing and collaborating on spatial ideas.
Part A: Cutting someone else's grass with MyMaps - online mapping for public procurement
Alistair Hart, general manager of Mangoesmapping Pty Ltd, amongst many other roles, will introduce the Google MyMaps platform, demonstrating it's capabilities through examples from his own professional experience.
Part B: Environmental groups of the Wet Tropics region - a collaborative mapping idea
Putting together what we've learnt to assist in the making of a community MyMap. Be part of our facilitated discussion, led by a team of local volunteers, on creating a collaborative, centralised map for plotting the various environmental organisations of the Cairns and Far North region - a map people can go to find out about how to get involved with what's happening in this space in their community.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
